The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has released its 2024 Canine Calendar, featuring 15 explosive detection dogs chosen from over 1,000 candidates. The calendar celebrates these dogs and their service in keeping the nation safe. Each month features an individual dog and provides information about their preferred treats, toys, and favorite spots, as well as the handlers who work with them.
The calendar highlights the partnership between the dogs and their handlers, and also honors the more than 1,000 explosive detection dogs currently working across the United States. The dogs undergo a 16-week training program at the TSA Canine Training Center in San Antonio and are trained to detect the scent of explosives or explosive materials.
